Community and Global Engagement Scholarship

About Community and Global Engagement
Community and Global Engagement is “a form of experiential education in which students engage in activities that address human and community needs, together with structured opportunities for reflection designed to achieve learning outcomes.”[1]

At CBU, we offer academic engagement learning experiences locally and globally to help students gain a deeper understanding of their discipline through ongoing, structured reflection that is framed by a Christian worldview. Academic Community and Global Engagement facilitate the integration of faith and experiential learning:

CGE
  • Academic Discipline: An opportunity for students to observe and engage the need in the community in a cross-cultural learning environment with intentional links to curriculum that meet pre-determined and pre-approved learning outcomes
  • Faith: Faith provides the motivation and Christian worldview behind academic engagement learning, leading to spiritual growth and Kingdom impact
  • Service: An identified need in the community through a mutually beneficial partnership between a community organization and a CBU academic discipline
Academic Community and Global Engagement activities align with CBU’s
  • outcome of preparing and launching graduates who are biblically rooted, globally minded, academically prepared, and equipped to serve.[2]
  • priorities and strategic goal of entrepreneurial community and global engagement.[3]
