Country Specific Scholarships

Italy
Italian Government Scholarships for Foreign Students
Scholarships open to non-Italian students to study in Italy. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Italy offers grants in favor of foreign citizens not residing in Italy and Italian citizens living abroad (IRE) for the academic year in order to foster international cultural, scientific and technological cooperation, to promote Italian language and culture and to support Italy’s economic system in the world. Grants are offered to pursue study, training, and/or research programs at Italian Higher Education Institutes, both public and legally recognised.

Japan
The Bridging Project
Bridging Scholarship recipients receive a stipend of $2,500 (for students on semester-long programs) or $4,000 (for students on academic year programs). Students studying in Japan on summer programs are not eligible to apply.
The Bridging Project offers scholarships to American undergraduate students participating in study-abroad programs in Japan. Funding from private foundations and major U.S. corporations, through donations to the nonprofit US-Japan Bridging Foundation, makes it possible to award about 100 scholarships each year to assist students with the travel and living expenses they will incur while studying abroad in Japan for a semester or an academic year. Applications are accepted twice a year for Bridging Scholarships.

Japanese MEXT Scholarship
Around $1,000 a month or 117,000 Yen
Since 1954, the Government of Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT or Monbukagakusho) has provided scholarships each year to assist students interested in studying at Japanese universities through the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship Program. As of the 2015 Japanese academic year, some 102,000 students from approximately 160 countries and regions around the world have studied in Japan as Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship students. And, as of May 1, 2015, there were 9,223 MEXT Scholarship recipients studying in Japan.
