The Health and Safety of our students abroad is very important to California Baptist University. We ask that all students and their families take time to review the following information to better prepare for their study abroad experience. All approved/accepted study abroad students will also be expected to attend a mandatory pre-departure orientation before they depart for study abroad or faculty-led programs. Health and Safety Requirements:

Students that are accepted into study abroad or faculty-led programs are require to participate, adhere and look into the below requirements -

 
  • Attend a pre-departure orientation hosted by the Director of Academic Engagement before you depart.
  • Review our emergency procedures.
  • Obtain international health insurance for coverage at all times while abroad. Go to our Insurance page to find out more.
  • Make sure that you have the immunizations you need before you go abroad. You can check www.cdc.gov/vaccines/ for more information.
  • Sign up for the U.S. Department of State Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP). STEP updates students and family with important information from the Embassy about safety conditions in your destination country, helping you make informed decisions about your travel plans. It also helps the U.S. Embassy contact you in an emergency, whether natural disaster, civil unrest, or family emergency. It makes it easy for family and friends get in touch with you in an emergency.
  • Adhere to the official CBU student code of conduct.

Students with individual questions or concerns are encouraged to schedule a one-on-one appointment with the Director of Academic Engagement, Garrett English.
 
Emergency Contact Information

For study abroad emergencies during CBU office hours, contact the Director of Academic Engagement or the Office of the Provost. During regular business hours (M - F, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm PST), you can reach us at +1 (951) 552-8865. 

For after hours study abroad emergencies, please call Safety Services at (951) 343-4311. If you can, provide Safety Services with the name of a CBU staff member that you worked with prior to your departure. Safety Services will then be in touch with that staff member who will assess and address the emergency.
